I have been involved with residential care for ten years, having worked for privately owned homes initially as a care assistant and pursuing my professional development to become a manager.
My responsibilities have included the day to day running of a home, development of staff including supervision, appraisal and personal development, including training needs and with an emphasis on team building and personal support to ensure staff morale. I have liaised with regulatory bodies and worked in partnership with placing authorities, parents, multi-disciplinary teams and significant others to ensure the delivery of high quality care within the homes I have worked for, providing for the daily needs of Service Users including their health, education, social and cultural needs.
I am adaptable and have good communication, presentation and inter-personal skills. I believe I show leadership skills both on the floor and working with those in my care, modelling best practice, and also in the administration and management of the home by planning and adapting management strategies to changing dynamics and environments. I monitor all aspects of the home and use this to initiate and implement practical solutions.
